Helpline goes the extra mile during Covid-19
12 Oct 2020
We proactively reached out to our members during lockdown to offer our support, prioritising those we felt had the greatest need. And since the beginning of June, we've spoken to more than 7,300 people to let them know our Helpline is still open and we're here to help - with a reminder of all our information resources and how to get in touch.
“The last few months have been a worrying and lonely time for many,” says Francesca Thompson, our Clinical and Operations Director.
“With many routine medical appointments postponed because of the pandemic, some people have found themselves dealing with a great deal of uncertainty about their health. Many callers to our Helpline say the charity is a lifeline for help in managing their osteoporosis and bone health.
“We wanted to reach out to as many people as possible with a supportive call, to remind them that they aren’t alone and we’re here to help with any osteoporosis-related questions.
“The calls have been really well received by our members – many of whom are vulnerable to coronavirus and had been shielding for several weeks, so were delighted to receive a friendly call. We’re so pleased to have been able to reach out with this small gesture to those most in need of support and a listening ear.”
One member said: “Your call has made me really happy, thank you. It’s so lovely to know that someone cares.”
We remain fully committed to offering you the support you need in these challenging times. If you’d like to speak to a specialist nurse, call our Helpline free on 0808 800 0035 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
