Research
We’re driving research to improve diagnosis, care and development of new treatments, to beat osteoporosis together.
We want: No More Broken Bones. No More Broken Lives.
Osteoporosis is one of the most urgent public health crises of the modern era, and the ROS is uniquely placed as the UK’s only national charity dedicated to osteoporosis. Our current focus is on prioritising ground-breaking and pioneering research areas that can bring about the maximum clinical benefit to people affected by the condition, particularly diagnosis and treatment. We ensure the voice of people living with osteoporosis is at the heart of every study we support.
Over the past 30 years, the Royal Osteoporosis Society has invested over £6.5 million in our research programme.
Research to establish the world’s first high fracture risk screening programme
Thank you to all our supporters!
Despite accounting for 9% of the UK’s health burden, osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal conditions receive only 3% of public research funding.
We receive no funding from the government, therefore our research programme is solely dependent on the generosity of our supporters.
