Join our Research Grants Assessment Panel

14 Dec 2020
We’re looking for people affected by osteoporosis to join our Research Grants Assessment Panel (RGAP) – a panel that helps the charity decide which research studies to fund.
The RGAP is a group of academics, healthcare professionals, people living with osteoporosis, and carers of people affected by the condition. Together, the panel supports decisions on where money is spent on research. Its role includes:
- Overseeing the processes involved in the research grants programme.
- Making recommendations to the Board of Trustees on the allocation of research funding, in line with the charity’s research strategy and priorities set by the Academy Advisory Committee.
- Advising the charity in the development of its research strategy, in line with the overall strategic direction.
- Complying with the RGAP Code of Conduct and the charity’s Conflicts of Interest policy.
If you’re living with osteoporosis or are close to someone who has the condition, and would like to influence the future of osteoporosis research, we’d love to hear from you.
Successful candidates will be expected to attend on average two meetings per year. These are currently being held virtually, but are expected to revert to a mix of virtual and face-to-face meetings held in either London or Camerton (Bath). These roles are undertaken on a voluntary and unpaid basis, but any travelling expenses will be reimbursed.
Please note that to be a member of the RGAP you cannot already be a member of the charity’s Academy Advisory Committee or Working Groups.
To apply, please send an expression of interest along with your CV to Helen Kingman, People and Governance Advisor, at Royal Osteoporosis Society, St James House, The Square, Lower Bristol Road, Bath, BA2 3BH, or email helen.kingman@theros.org.uk. The closing date for applications is Monday 4 January 2021.
