Best practice toolkit for virtual consultations

The pandemic may have passed but the trend for remote appointments continues. That’s why we’ve recently updated our virtual and telephone consultation toolkit, to promote best practice and support effective remote care in FLS, osteoporosis and bone health clinics around the UK.

Aimed at services and healthcare professionals, the toolkit was developed by the ROS in partnership with our NHS colleagues and includes tools to support:

  • Preparation for a telephone or video consultation.
  • Good practices during the consultation.
  • A template to support virtual fracture risk assessments (FRAX) that you can adapt to suit individual clinical department needs.
  • Downloadable and printable PDFs for your patients telling them what to expect, how to prepare and how to get the best out of the appointment.

Head of Clinical Engagement Jill Griffin said: “Virtual appointments are very much part of our clinical practice now and these tools, borne out of necessity, have been updated to make them relevant today. Because we worked with evidence-based practices and tested the tools in real-life services, we know that they can help virtual consultations be clinically effective and support patients getting what they need from the appointment.”
