New osteoporosis video resources for your patients

ROS

21 Jan 2021

We regularly hear from our members, volunteers and those who call our Helpline that they want more information about bone health and osteoporosis, which is why we have created a series of four new video resources to answer common questions. We appreciate the importance of good bone health for everybody and want those living with osteoporosis to live well.

The videos have been created for anyone who has recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis, but are relevant to people at all stages of their journey with the condition – and will also be helpful for family members and carers.

“Getting that diagnosis of osteoporosis is a complete shock,” says Kay, who has osteoporosis and volunteers for the ROS. “I found that I didn’t really take things in properly at the time. That’s why these videos are a great resource to turn to. They help answer all the questions I didn’t ask when I was first diagnosed.”

Developed by people living with osteoporosis and healthcare professionals, including consultant in metabolic medicine and a specialist nurse, the new videos include:

  • What is osteoporosis?
  • How is osteoporosis diagnosed?
  • How is osteoporosis treated?
  • How can I keep my bones healthy?

They cover a wide range of information, such as the causes of osteoporosis, DXA scans, types of medications, diet, vitamin D, calcium and exercise.

We know these videos will help thousands of people to better understand osteoporosis and what it means for them. Please do share them with your patients at theros.org.uk/newly-diagnosed

Help our specialist nurses continue to support those in need
