New exercise for bone health films: muscle-strengthening

Blog

11 May 2023

Following on from our previous post featuring our four new weight-bearing impact exercise films, here we share six films which focus on muscle-strengthening exercise for you to try.

Also included below is a short safety film, which covers common questions we’re asked on the Helpline about exercise for bones.

All 11 films are part of our brand-new series of short films which feature the two types of exercise needed for bone strength – weight-bearing impact and muscle-strengthening. Produced by ROS Clinical Advisor, Sarah Leyland in partnership with professionals, the series explains the importance of combining moderate impact exercise with progressive muscle-resistance training, providing a three-stage plan about ways to exercise effectively and to build up safely.

The films are aimed at anyone wanting to work on exercise to promote bone strength and especially those who are able to add in some intensity into their exercise routine. These won’t be suitable for everyone, but doing any form of exercise at whatever level is always important to reduce loss of muscle and bone strength. To find out more about the importance of exercise, visit our ‘Exercise and physical activity for osteoporosis and bone health’ page.

To make sure you’re combining both types of exercise, visit our previous post to try our weight-bearing impact films.
