Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy

Permanent Contract | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) | c. £65,000 per annum Plus Benefits | Flexible Location: Remote or Hybrid

We’re a dedicated, inspiring and forward-thinking healthcare charity and our mission is to improve the bone health of the nation and prevent osteoporosis by influencing healthcare providers and professionals; supporting services to help our beneficiaries; and drive research. We’re proud to have a committed, highly engaged workforce, as shown by our employee engagement rating, which puts us in the top 20% of charities and we want to attract the brightest and the best to help us beat this condition and change society for the better.

This leadership role is a key part of our strategy and you’ll be leading a small team of dedicated specialists, whilst being part of a supportive wider team of fundraising professionals changing the conversation on bone health.

Fuelled by two national media partnerships over the past year, ROS has recently secured a commitment from all political parties for the national adoption of a ‘gold standard’ NHS diagnostic service by 2030, which will prevent 74,000 fractures over five years, saving over 8,000 lives.

This influencing success will ultimately increase people approaching ROS for support. We have had some strong recent success in all three areas of Trusts, Corporate and Major Donor income, and with your help we are looking to build on this, funding significant projects which will make a step change in our reach and impact, to meet the urgent and growing need.

ROS’s overall income currently stands at £5m with over half of that coming from legacies. To grow our impact, we need to grow our income. Linked to the low public awareness of the condition, ROS’s voluntary income had been static for far too long. We’ve now increased our fundraised income by 50% over the last three years and have the ambition to transform our income further to meet the urgent and growing need for our services.

You would have responsibility for diversifying, developing and driving ROS’s high value funding and partnerships to generate restricted and unrestricted income and in-kind value for the charity, primarily through grant giving trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships and major donors, whilst we are also seeking to understand the market for commercial income streams.

Working with the stakeholders across the charity, you would also support the development of new charitable programmes so that their sustainable funding is central to their design from the outset.

The Head of Partnerships & Philanthropy reports directly to the Director of Income and Engagement and is part of the wider Leadership Team.

Investment in our people is of paramount importance to ROS and from day one, you will have access to what is needed to support your personal and professional development, to ensure you have the skills and support to lead and grow with the role. You will also have the ability and backing to grow your team and investment as we build and diversify ROS’s income.

In 2024, 100% of colleagues told us 95% were proud to work for the charity (charity benchmark 91%) and 87% would recommend working for the charity (77% charity benchmark).

In 2023 Royal Osteoporosis Society won three Third Sector Award categories for Best Charity, Best Marketing Campaign and Financial Excellence.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment, encouraging applications from individuals of all backgrounds. We are dedicated to a welcoming and supportive application process and employment.
