Publications
Our investment in research via our Research and Innovation Grants Programme and Research Support Request process has consistently generated academic impact via generation of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
From our research programme over the last ten years:
- 67 research papers have been generated.
- Overall, from these 67 research papers there have been more than 1,900 citations in other research/policy work.
- 66% (43) are open access, meaning unlike the traditional scholarly subscription mode, there is no financial, legal of technical barriers to accessing the publication, hence they can be read by anyone.
- ROS funded research has informed UK clinical guidelines for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. In 2022, the National Osteoporosis Guideline Group (NOGG) published a position paper on the major updated version of the UK guideline for the assessment and management of osteoporosis and the prevention of fragility fractures in postmenopausal women, and men age 50 years and older (available here). This guideline is relevant for all healthcare professionals involved in osteoporosis management and is accredited by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the main body in the NHS that manages health guidelines and quality standards. The guideline has been endorsed by the International Osteoporosis Foundation and by the European Society for the Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases. The guideline references seven ROS research grant related papers.
Please see the list below of all the publications generated from our support over the last ten years. The papers have been catergorised under the different research areas, with ROS funded research grants titles shown in orange.
