The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) is looking to recruit up to five new scientific/clinical members to join its Research and Innovation Grants Assessment Panel (RIGAP) to complement the current panel’s expertise and help the charity fund research and innovation projects of the highest standard, with the greatest chance of having impact.

Responsible for overseeing the charity’s Research Grants Programme, the RIGAP makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees on the allocation of research and innovation funding in line with the charity’s four-year strategy, ‘Breaking the Silence’. For the duration of the strategy the ROS is focusing its grants programme on pioneering studies which can help close the care gap patients face (formerly, ‘treatment gap’) and reduce health inequalities.

On this occasion we’re particularly seeking interest from clinical or non-clinical researchers involved in:

  • Qualitative research
  • Health Services Research - implementation and/or knowledge mobilisation research

We are also seeking clinical applicants with the following experience:

  • Academic General Practitioner
  • Academic Pharmacist
  • Academic Elderly Care Physician

All applicants must be a professional member of the Royal Osteoporosis Society. To find out more information about ROS professional membership please see here

If you’re looking for an opportunity to use your academic expertise to make a difference and help change lives through breakthroughs in osteoporosis research, we’d love to hear from you.

RIGAP member at the ROS said:

“I have found involvement in RIGAP to be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. In particular, understanding how research grants are evaluated, gained from participation in the panel, is extremely useful of anyone interested in or involved in biomedical research”.

Successful candidates will be expected to attend an average of two virtual meetings per year, and review and score research grant applications.

The position of RIGAP member is offered on a voluntary and unpaid basis, but any travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed in line with ROS policy.
