New funding for osteoporosis research announced

Today, the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) is launching a new round of research grants, with up to £250,000 on offer for osteoporosis research.

The grants offer some of the brightest minds in research the opportunity to apply for funding that will help us bring about real improvements to the lives of people living with osteoporosis now and in the future.

This year, we’re inviting applications that focus on closing the treatment gap and align with the charity’s recently published four-year strategy, Breaking the Silence 2022-2026. Topics include:

• Overcoming the barriers to implement clinical interventions which will improve care and lead to quicker and more accurate diagnosis
• Reducing health inequalities in osteoporosis care

All applicants are encouraged to show how they’d involve members of the public and patients in their project plans.

Applicants can apply under the following three types of grants:

• Project grants: to support an established UK osteoporosis researcher to undertake a pioneering research project.
• Early Career Grants: to support a researcher in the early stages of their career.
• Innovative Grants: to support a highly innovative pilot study at the cutting-edge.

The deadline for applications is Monday 6 June 2022. The successful research projects will be announced in January 2023.
