BoneMed Online reaches 10,000 people

10,000 people now supported to feel more confident about their osteoporosis treatment.

We are thrilled to be celebrating a major milestone after BoneMed Online reached 10,000 sign ups. BoneMed Online is our digital medicine support service helping people understand their osteoporosis medication and feel confident about their treatment.

In the UK over 3.5 million people, men and women of all ages, are living with osteoporosis. Often known as the ‘Silent’ condition due to there being no symptoms until a broken bone occurs. Many of those people are prescribed osteoporosis medicines that they don’t fully understand and are left feeling confused and ill-informed.

BoneMed Online gives people clear, trusted, personalised information about the osteoporosis medicine they have been prescribed, helping them understand why they are taking it, what to expect and the importance of continuing their treatment as recommended.

Crucially, support does not end when someone first signs up. Throughout the year, people receive regular check-ins and practical information from the ROS, providing ongoing reassurance and helping them stay informed and supported as they continue their treatment.

This recent milestone means that 10,000 people are now better equipped to understand and manage their osteoporosis medication. And the service is helping the charity to reach a new audience too, with 57% of BoneMed Online users new to the Royal Osteoporosis Society.

“Reaching 10,000 people is a fantastic milestone, and behind that number are thousands of individuals who now have access to trusted information and ongoing support with their osteoporosis medicines.

Starting a new medicine or changing to something different can bring questions and uncertainty, so we want people to feel informed and confident about their treatment. BoneMed Online means we can be there not just at the beginning, but throughout the year with regular check-ins, reassurance and expert information.

It is particularly encouraging that more than half of the people using the service are new to the Royal Osteoporosis Society which means that we’re reaching thousands of people who may never previously have known that our free support was available to them.”

The latest milestone follows growing recognition for BoneMed Online, including recent award success, alongside increased awareness through social media coverage.
