Thom Harvey becomes Interim CEO of ROS

Today, Friday 17 July, Thom Harvey becomes Interim CEO of the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS).

This follows the departure of Craig Jones, following a successful six years tenure, to become CEO of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Departing CEO Craig Jones said:

“I’m proud to leave the Royal Osteoporosis Society in strong shape, with increased income, more members than ever, national commitments to Fracture Liaison Services roll-out in England and Wales, and a series of awards for our team’s work on behalf of patients. To finish my tenure on the week Her Majesty The Queen marked our 40th anniversary was especially meaningful. Thom and the team won’t miss a beat in building on this platform and taking the charity to ever greater heights”.

Interim CEO Thom Harvey said:

“It's a privilege to take on the role of Interim CEO as we build on the strongest platform for change in our history. We have a clear mandate from our Board to keep driving forward our campaigning work, particularly to secure implementation of Fracture Liaison Services across England. With a strong team, dedicated supporters and real momentum behind our work, we will continue moving forward with purpose and growing pace."

Recruitment of the new CEO is well underway and we will announce the outcome of the process in due course.

Director of Services, Influencing and Innovation Ruth Wakeman will continue to lead on public policy influencing over the transition period and beyond.

Meanwhile, the Board of Trustees has reaffirmed that securing implementation of the UK Government's commitment to roll out Fracture Liaison Services across England remains the charity's overriding strategic priority. This work will continue unchanged during and following the leadership transition.

This includes support for the amendment to the Health Bill calling for an implementation plan within 90 days of passage, which we’ll continue to raise through each and every stage of the Parliamentary process.
