Travel insurance with osteoporosis

Having an osteoporosis diagnosis could affect your travel insurance premiums and the options available to you.

Your insurance company takes your risk of breaking a bone into account when assessing your risk of making a claim. You may find they increase your premiums to account for this, or occasionally may refuse to cover you.

If you have osteoporosis - even if you're not currently being treated - it's important to be honest with your insurer. They can tell you whether your situation affects your cover or not.

You should still be able to get cover, but only if you declare your condition. If you are unfortunate enough to break a bone while you're on holiday and you haven't told your insurer that you have osteoporosis, they may refuse to cover your injury.
