Welsh Fracture Liaison Service wins national recognition for improving patient care

The Royal Osteoporosis Society congratulates Dr Inderpal Singh OBE and the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Fracture Liaison Service after receiving two prestigious national awards recognising excellence in preventing future fractures and improving patient outcomes.

The Aneurin Bevan Fracture Liaison Service (FLS), led by Dr Inderpal Singh OBE, has been recognised nationally during Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2026, receiving two major accolades at the Excellence in Clinical Audit Awards.

The service was named joint winner of both the Evidence into Practice Award 2026 and the National Clinical Audit Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP) Commendation Award 2026, recognising its outstanding use of clinical audit data to improve care for people at risk of osteoporosis and future fractures.

The awards celebrate healthcare teams that successfully translate evidence and data into meaningful improvements for patients. They highlight the significant impact the Aneurin Bevan FLS has made in delivering secondary fracture prevention services and improving outcomes for people who have experienced a broken bone.

Using data to transform care

Fracture Liaison Services play a vital role in identifying people aged 50 and over who have suffered a fracture and may be at risk of osteoporosis. By assessing bone health, arranging treatment where needed and supporting ongoing care, FLS help prevent life-changing fractures before they happen.

The awards recognised the team's innovative use of clinical audit data to improve service delivery, monitor performance and ensure more patients receive timely assessment and support following a fracture.
