To safeguard the life-changing pledge the government made to people with osteoporosis

Two years ago, Health Secretary Wes Streeting promised to roll out new osteoporosis clinics to every area of England to give people an early diagnosis. Mr Streeting said setting up these clinics, called Fracture Liaison Services, in every area would be “a first act in post”.

But, two years on, nothing has yet happened. That’s despite the commitment having been made a total of 61 times in Parliament and the public.

These clinics cannot be delivered overnight. Data shows that if work doesn’t begin by the summer of 2026, it’s highly unlikely the 2030 pledge for coverage in every area can be achieved.

We need your help

Write to your MP and ask them to support the publication of a delivery plan.

If you receive a response to your letter, we would be grateful if you could share this with us so we can see how politicians are responding. You can forward your responses to policy@theros.org.uk

Every letter makes a difference. We’re close to securing this breakthrough. But we need your letter to get this over the line.

If all of our members take this action, it will be impossible to ignore. Then we can change tens of thousands of people’s lives for the better by getting them an early diagnosis.
