70th birthday wishes to our President, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall

17 Jul 2017

The National Osteoporosis Society is delighted to wish Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, a very happy 70th birthday.

As a charity, we are immensely grateful to The Duchess for her outstanding commitment to and untiring support of our work in ending the pain and suffering caused by osteoporosis.

The Duchess first offered her support to the Charity in 1994, after her mother died as a result of osteoporosis and in 1997, she became a Patron. In 2001, The Duchess was appointed President of the National Osteoporosis Society in recognition of her support for the Charity.

Over the decades, Her Royal Highness has been at the very heart of the Charity’s growth and development, propelling public awareness of the condition, strengthening the Charity’s influence in developing better standards of treatment and care, and witnessing first-hand the difference that can be made through our work.

Supporters and beneficiaries of the Charity tell us of The Duchess’ empathy and understanding of osteoporosis, which goes above and beyond the outward signs of living with the condition. Her knowledge, interest and personal understanding of the condition and its effect on people’s lives resonate with all those she meets.

We are privileged to have a President who is so committed and able to meaningfully represent and champion our cause.

Marking the occasion

To celebrate this special occasion, the National Osteoporosis Society has been collecting special memories from beneficiaries, members, supporters, volunteers, members of staff and Trustees, about the times they have been lucky enough to meet with The Duchess during her 30 years of involvement with the Charity.

The memories have been collated into 'A Collection of Thanks', which was presented to The Duchess last Thursday during her 70th birthday garden party at Clarence House. You can view the collection of thanks by clicking on the front cover below.
